Never having done anything other than restorative or hatha, yin/yang and ashtanga yoga I was blown away by how gentle yet powerful these sequences were. I am so grateful that I got to demo them for this course and the changes, the lengthening, the opening, the calm, the focus (I could go on!) I felt after having tuned IN to my body were incredible. Jamie has a gift and I am grateful to her for sharing it. I will recommend therapeutic yoga to everyone!Read Less
Jamie Mathiasen first met yoga in 1997 during one of a thousand conversations about 'the meaning of life' and a good friend suggested she go to a yoga class. Skeptical that the answers to life could be found while balancing on her head, she went to her first class and like many students, realized yoga was much more than exercise. She fell in love with the space that her yoga practice created for her to feel her body and find stillness in her otherwise hectic life. Her passion and focus shifted to Therapeutic Yoga where she has earned a 1000 hour Internationally recognized Yoga Therapy Certification (IAYT). She is the co founder of The Canadian Institute of Therapeutic Yoga and trains yoga teachers throughout Alberta. She has helped her clients reduce their pain, find ease in their everyday life and step more fully into living up to their potential. After turning 40, she decided to really look at what she wanted to be doing and what was holding her back from doing that. So she signed up for her first triathlon. And, she was humbled, and hooked! The years of a dedicated yoga practice has helped her really see what lessons the challenges of triathlon are here to teach. Ultimately, she has seen that aging is a gift and that the limitations we have are strongly rooted in the untruths we have told ourselves for years and years. To unravel the stories, we must continue to show up for ourselves and hold space for real Truth to show up. She is stronger at 41 then she has ever been and plans on continuing to see what else she is capable of, at any age!
